PLA prints at lower temperatures than PETG – 180-220C compared to 220-260C – and doesn’t require a heated bed to print, whereas PETG should be printed with a heated bed. When printing PETG, you also need to be careful that you use enough adhesor to prevent PETG from sticking too well to your build surface. Jedoch ist ASA bei fast jeder nennenswerten Eigenschaft etwas robuster, als herkömmliches ABS. You can smooth ASA prints in acetone vapor similar to how you would with ABS. While we’re discovering the benefits of ASA, it would be worthwhile to consider the plastic’s density. Whereas ABS has a density of ‘1.04’ per g/cm 3, ASA has a substantial density of ‘1.07’ per g/cm 3. But what does that mean? PETG vs PLA Temperature for 3D Printing. Because the two filaments are different and have distinctive technical properties, you should use different printing temperatures for PLA and PETG. ABS is one of the most-used plastics in the field of 3D printing in FDM / FFF technology. It is so popular due to its good strength properties, low price, which are combined with relative ease of printing.

The reason is the material density – for ASA, this value is 1.07 g/cm3, however, for PLA and PETG it’s 1.25 g/cm3. This means that the volume of material on ASA, PLA and PETG spools is the same. In other words, you can print the same number of objects from a 1kg spool of PLA/PETG as from a 850 g ASA spool.

Comparing ABS with PETG, ABS is a bit less prone to moisture intake, making it easier to handle and store. PETG has an 80C glass transition temperature, which is less than ABS (105C) but more than PLA (60-65C), with printed parts able to handle any normal activities and heats without deforming. We also have another article explaining the differences between PLA vs PETG. It’s much of the same story for ABS and ASA, the red dots, while copolyesters are a bit all over the place.

$\begingroup$ I've been using ASA and I'm pretty happy with it. Agreed that you need some high temps, I think I have to print at 270 which is the absolute tops of what my printer does, and bed, and enclosed, and mind the fumes, but if you happen to have that tech, it's easier to print than either PETG or ABS. Our ASA has a low-gloss matte finish which makes it the perfect filament for technical-looking prints, especially when you don’t want the high-gloss surface finish often associated with 3D printing materials like ABS, PETG, or PLA. ASA filament is a derivative of ABS, so it makes pretty strong parts that are perfect for outdoor projects that need to be weather resistant. Kurz zusammengefasst: PLA VS. PETG. PLA ist in der Handhabung einfacher als PETG-Filament. PLA verzeiht auch kleine Druckfehler.

At higher temperatures, PETG deforms gradually, up to 170 °C (338 °F), when it melts just like the PLA. Both ASA and ABS turned out to be unsuitable for annealing (more on this later).

PETG is made with one of the most common synthetic materials - polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), which is modified with Glycol. Thanks to this, PETG is much tougher, stiffer, clearer and easier to use in 3D printing and machining than PET. ASA Filament Vorteile. Optisch ist dem ASA Filament nicht anzumerken, dass es sich von ABS Filament unterscheidet. In ihren Eigenschaften ähneln sich die beiden Filament Sorten sogar stark.

PTEG vs ABS vs ASA. ASA vs. PETG. We cover this in more under 'learn more' below. Here are the important things about the PLA 3D printing filament: What

It’s resistant to oils and greases. The filament doesn’t degrade over time and immune to UV light. 2018-09-17 2020-05-30 Prusament PETG is our own in-house made filament. The whole manufacturing process is closely monitored and tested - we guarantee ±0.02mm precision and highly-consistent colors.

Z-PETG filament combines glycol with standard PET material to eliminate brittleness. The result is improved durability and tensile strength. Z-PETG is an industrial-grade 3D printing material designed to work in extreme environments. It’s resistant to oils and greases. The filament doesn’t degrade over time and immune to UV light.

ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is like ABS, but with more weather-resistant properties. It has high heat resistance, high-impact resistance, and is UV resistant (unlike ABS). ASA is heavily used in the automotive industry. This material is easy to print but requires a heated build chamber to print in large scale. For ASA to stay anchored to your build surface, we recommend using a layer of Kapton tape on top of your printer’s heated bed.
